Four Dominicans pitching in the Major Leagues today

On Tuesday, April 27, four Dominicans have been announced to take the mound as starters.

Frankie Montás for the Oakland Athletics; Carlos Martínez for the St. Louis Cardinals; Cristian Javier for the Houston Astros and José Ureña for the Detroit Tigers, are the Dominicans scheduled to open today’s games.

Montás, 2-1, 6.75 ERA with 20 strikeouts. In his last game on the 21st, against the Minnesota Twins, he left without a decision after allowing nine hits and six runs in 4.0 innings, with no transfers and four strikeouts. He faces the Tampa Rays, who announce Michael Wacha, at 7:10 tonight.

Martinez, who has not tasted victory and has four losses, is 6.00 ERA with 13 strikeouts and his best start in nearly three years was Wednesday when he completed 6.0 innings of one run, one hit and one strikeout against the Nationals, but came away with a no decision. He faces the Philadelphia Phillies today, who announce Zach Eflin to open in a scheduled 7:45 start.

The Astros take Javier in their 8:10 game against the Mariners, who announce Marco Gonzales. Javier has two wins with no losses, a 1.32 ERA and 20 strikeouts. He comes from winning his last game against the Los Angeles Angelinos; 5.0 innings, three hits, zero runs, one base and nine strikeouts.

Ureña closes out the day for the Dominicans when the Detroit Tigers visit the Chicago White Sox at 8:10 p.m., who announce Lucas Giolito. Urena is 0-3 with a 4.57 ERA and 19 strikeouts.

In his last game he got a no decision against the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 7.0 episodes he allowed five hits, two clean runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
