The Minister of Sports, Francisco Camacho, announced the incentives that the National Sports Federations, whose athletes win medals in the Olympic Games that will begin today in the French capital, will receive.
Camacho referred to the subject after his arrival in this city, to join the Dominican Republic delegation that will participate in the Olympic Games, whose opening ceremony is scheduled for this Friday.
“Per gold medal, the Government will give an incentive of two million pesos, one and a half million for silver and one million for bronze,” declared Minister Camacho.
He said that each medal federation will distribute the incentive it receives among those it considers had an influence in obtaining that metal, starting, obviously, with its coach or coaches.
He said that no athlete does it alone, but that a team is involved in their preparation, headed precisely by a body of technicians led by their head coach.
“We want to clarify that in the event that more than one athlete from the same federation obtain medals, for the purposes of the incentive, the medal of greater value will be taken into account,” he said.
It is recalled that during the ceremony in which President Luis Abinader presented the national flag to the Dominican delegation, on the instructions of the President, Minister Camacho announced the incentives for the medal-winning athletes.
On the occasion it was informed that the gold medal winners will receive 15 million pesos; the silver medal winners will receive 10 million pesos and those who win bronze will receive eight million pesos.
“These are millionaire incentives that are unprecedented in Dominican sports history,” said Camacho.
The official was confident that Dominican athletes will have a good performance in the games, which will begin this Friday in the French capital.
