“I wanted to be an example so that many young people do not lose hope,” Ortiz after his election to the Hall of Fame

Big Papi expressed his enthusiasm after his election as a member of the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame where he will join other great figures of the sport in the country.

In an exclusive conversation, David Ortiz said that he is reaping the fruits of what he did on and off the field.

“I have not been perfect, but I have tried to do many good things, in others I have made mistakes, but I have always done it with good intentions” expressed the charismatic former player.

“I think I have served as an example for many ‘chamaquitos’ not to lose hope and to see that working hard is possible,” he added.

Ortiz, a three-time World Series champion (2004, 07 and 2013) will be exalted at the 55th Pavilion of Fame Ceremonial to be held on Sunday, November 14 from 10:00 a.m. at the institution’s auditorium, located at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.

The election of the former Boston Red Sox slugger as an immortal was announced the day before by the president of the Permanent Committee of the Pavilion of Fame, Dr. Dionisio Guzmán.

He said that as he enters his first year of eligibility, Ortiz’s selection was a sort of formality for the jury responsible for his selection.

Ortiz is one of three professional baseball players to be inducted into the Class of 2021, following the early selection of Julian Tavarez and Rafael Furcal, also former major leaguers.
