The judoka from Hidalgo, Marcela García, fell in her presentation at the World Championship of the specialty that is currently being held in Olbia, Italy.
The Mexican judoka faced Poland’s Katarzyna Sobierajska, who only needed 47 seconds to defeat the Mexican judoka by 0-1, stopping the clock in 3:13 and thus advancing in the -70 kilograms category.
A Tuzo called up in Under 20, traveled to Spain
The Pole lost in the quarterfinals and left Marcela Garcia with no chance of advancing to the Repechage in the fight for bronze. Sobierajska placed third along with Brazil’s Luana Carvalho, the first and second place went to Spain’s Ai Tsunoda Roustant and Croatia’s Lara Cvjetko respectively.
This was the fourth participation of the player from Hidalgo in an international scenario, where the fifth place in the Pan American Open of Guayaquil 2021 held last May stands out.
On the other hand, in national activity, Hidalgo won two medals in the first day of activities of the Daniel F. Hernandez 2021 National Tournament currently being held in Oaxtepec, Morelos, a competition that is a qualifier for the Pan American Judo Championship to be held in the Dominican Republic.
Victor Martinez Gomez and Claudia Sofia Martinez won gold and silver in their respective categories in the competition.
Prior to the tournament, the president and trainer of the Hidalgo Judo Association, Veronica Gonzalez Pasten, informed that a total of two children’s athletes, one in first strength and one in veterans will take part in the roll call.
