Twelfth version of ‘DR Open Amateur’ to be held in Casa de Campo

More than 200 golfers will gather to participate in the “already traditional event” oriented towards the international market and the interest of developing the country’s golf tourism, according to Fedogolf.

The Dominican Golf Federation (Fedogolf) announced this Monday the ‘DR Open Amateur’, an event to be held from October 2 to 7 in Casa de Campo, in the Dientes de Perro, The Links and Dye Fore complexes.

More than 200 golfers will gather to participate in the “already traditional event” oriented towards the international market, conceived by Fedogolf, in the interest of developing golf tourism in the country, particularly in the Eastern Zone, where there are 15 golf courses with a premium quality standard.

This year will be the twelfth uninterrupted version, according to the guild.

“The goal is to receive and lodge in the zone 1,000 golfers and their companions every year in a national golf party, which stimulates the loyalty of foreign golfers,” said Carlos Elmudesi, president of Fedogolf.

Elmudesi pointed out that “we have more than 200,000 rounds available annually to promote in the large international market with a potential income of more than 90,000 million dollars, and that we should visualize this as a tourism and economic business opportunity for the Dominican Republic”.

For his part, Rafael Canario, director of the event, said that the entire program is designed to fully meet the expectations of golfing guests, their companions and sponsors in a pleasant evening in Casa de Campo. The DR Open is the only Amateur competition event with a 100% tourist vocation held in the country.
