DGII: technological improvement for issuance of first license plate now operational

The General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII) informs that the interconnection with the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) is now available in the Motor Vehicles module of the Virtual Office, as explained to all citizens at the beginning of August, as part of a comprehensive restructuring of the Motor Vehicle Service Centers of Malecón Center and Plaza Luperón.

This innovation allows the capture of all data related to the importation of vehicles, for individual or mass registrations, with the entry of the chassis number, which considerably reduces registration time, automates data capture, reduces the incidence of typing errors and guarantees the correct collection of the first license plate, CO2 emissions and tags fees.

Likewise, it reduces the internal processes for the attention of first license plate applications, as it eliminates the need for individual reviews per vehicle and subsequent procedures for data correction.

The DGII is confident that these changes will allow vehicle importers to operate more easily.

Prior to using this improvement, we recommend that you clean your cookies, cache memory and temporary files in your web browsers, with the assistance of your technical support teams.

The general director of the institution, Luis Valdez Veras, thanked the vehicle importing sector for their support and understanding during the last three weeks, a period in which they worked on the introduction of these technological improvements.

He also indicated that this new service is part of the digital transformation projects being carried out at the DGII to facilitate tax compliance through efficient and simplified processes.

He also recalled that other solutions have been adopted in the Motor Vehicles sector to improve the service to taxpayers with the inauguration of the service centers of Malecón Center and Plaza Luperón, in Santo Domingo, where several processes that were previously dispersed can be carried out, which implies a great reduction of time and costs to citizens. This initiative will be replicated at other points.
