Abinader breaks ground for Tryp by Wyndham

President Luis Abinader, together with Minister David Collado, led the launching of the Tryp by Wyndham Playa Palenque, which will be developed in Casa Club, Coconut Paradise and will have an investment of US$20 million dollars.

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, expressed that the beginning of this project is in line with the vision of President Abinader, after affirming that tourism is the main industry of the country and that when the interests of the nation are put on the table first, great results are obtained.

He added that the recovery of tourism in its entirety, as well as the 179,000 pre-pandemic jobs in the sector, have been possible thanks to the joint effort and to President Abinader who is attentive to every detail of the Dominican Republic brand.

“Today we can say that when the president arrived there were 10,000 rooms open with an occupancy rate of 10% and today we have 83,000 hotel rooms open with an occupancy rate of 85%,” said Collado.

The Minister of Tourism assured that the Government of President Abinader has revolutionized the tourism industry and that even with the condition that the country is losing half a million tourists due to the international situation, this year it will end up receiving 7.2 million tourists, a record figure in the history of the sector.

He reiterated that after the recovery of tourism and being recognized by the World Tourism Organization as the number one country in the world in the year 2022, ForwardKeys again published its results and the Dominican Republic was in first place in flight reservations comparing 2022 with 2019.Abinader Breaks Ground for Tryp by Wyndham

On his side, the president of Maceo & Company, Marco Maceo, explained that his development has become a reference tourism real estate project in the area.He stated that by the beginning of next year they will increase their capacity to 200 rooms with the alliance with Wyndham and will provide around 400 direct jobs at the end of the project.Edward De Valle II, CEO of Grupo Valle and co-developer of Tryp Playa Palenque, congratulated the government for the great work done in the recovery of tourism.

“And it is because of all those efforts, that national and foreign investors can now place their trust in my vision and that of my partners,” highlighted De Valle II.

About the project

TRYP by Wyndham will be a four-star condo hotel and resort in a reputable gated residential complex, built on the beachfront and consisting of 44 condominium hotel units, 36 residences, 4 bungalow suites and 7 villas.

The opening of this condo hotel is scheduled for March 2023, marks an important milestone in the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry and is aligned with the vision of “Tourism in every corner”.
