The Caribbean continues to be a favorite destination for tourists, despite challenges such as security warnings, according to the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA).
Thus, Nicola Madden-Greig, president of the organization, pointed out that the results of the survey, published during the last edition of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace, revealed that more than 80% of tourists felt safe while visiting the region.
The positive feedback counters travel warnings from several outbound market countries, including the United States, which have issued warnings to their nationals about traveling to places such as Jamaica and the Bahamas due to concerns about insecurity.
Despite the warnings, the Caribbean tourism sector has shown remarkable resilience, according to review site ForwardKeys Destination Insights.
As for the high levels of security for its visitors, Madden-Greig noted that the impact of domestic incidents on tourism is miniscule.
