The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, met with his Canadian counterpart, Soraya Martinez, with whom he discussed concrete plans to strengthen tourism relations between the Dominican Republic and Canada, and to ensure that more visitors from that nation continue to come to this Caribbean island.
Collado described as ”transcendent” his meeting with the Canadian Minister of Tourism, taking into account that this country is the second largest issuer of tourists to the Dominican Republic.
This meeting is really a great step to guarantee a greater connectivity between Canada and the Dominican Republic, which will result in a substantial increase in the arrival of Canadians to Quisqueya, and bringing closer the projection of reaching 10 million tourists by the end of the year”.
In the meeting between the two tourism officials, bilateral issues were discussed to strengthen relations and promote tourism between the two nations, the second most important source of tourism for the Caribbean country.
Minister Collado’s agenda in Toronto included meetings with Sunwing Travel Group, Air Canada Vacations and other travel agents and tour operators.
This meeting took place within the framework of a 4-day visit by Minister Collado to Canada, where he held his traditional road shows in Toronto and Montreal, attended by more than 200 tour operators, travel agents and airline executives.
