The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, presented the Dominican Republic as a destination to more than 200 travel agencies and tour operators in New York State at an event held at the Light House at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.
Collado highlighted that the Dominican Republic is the number 1 country in the world in terms of tourism recovery and explained that this is due to compliance with health protocols that have been in place at airports and hotels to keep the Covid-19 issue under control.
“In our administration we have not rested since we took office to be able to guarantee a tourism recovery taking care of the health of all collaborators and tourists, that is why our country is the only one in which 100% of the tourism industry staff is 100% vaccinated and now we will start a campaign to apply the third dose, so, the safest destination that your agencies can offer is Dominican Republic” he said.
He highlighted that the nation became the destination par excellence in the region for the film industry in the midst of the pandemic precisely because of the security guarantees offered by the country and thanked the travel agencies and tour operators for the support they provide to the country.
“Thank you because with every flight or every room you sell in the Dominican Republic you are helping a family, that is why it is so important for us to work hand in hand with all of you; the large, medium and small agencies, who are the strategic partners that allow us to place our country among the favorite destinations of North Americans,” said the minister.
The event was attended by the Dominican Consul General in New York, Eligio Jáquez, as well as representatives of the main American airlines that fly to the country, such as American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta, among others.
In addition, the Technical Vice Minister of Tourism, Jacqueline Mora, who detailed the recovery indicators in terms of hotel occupancy and tourist arrivals, as well as presented the projection of tourist arrivals for December and January, which are expected to be the highest in the history of the Dominican Republic.
During the activity, very attractive and modern videos were presented showing the attributes of the main tourist destinations of the country such as Punta Cana, Bávaro, La Romana, Bayahibe, Santo Domingo, Samaná and Puerto Plata.
