Collado expressed that a bill has already been filed to improve the competitiveness of Dominican airlines.
The Minister of Tourism, David Collado affirmed that for this sector it has been a historic year, surpassing eight and a half million tourists.
“The challenges we have is the cost of tickets in the Dominican Republic, for that we already have a bill in the Senate that seeks to make the country’s airlines more competitive,” said the official.
Collado, highlighted that among the exonerations that the tourist will have is the 37 percent abroad so that they can be competitive.
“If a tour operator in Texas or Houston hires a Dominican airline to pay 27 percent, they are out of the competition, we are in the final signing of the Open Skies agreement with the United States,” informed the minister.
He reiterated that they are doing everything possible for the nation to have greater air connectivity, indicating that these are the challenges that tourism currently faces.
“In the month of January and February, more than one million tourists have entered the country, this is history”, said the minister after the presentation of President Luis Abinader.
