As part of the novelties for 2022, Gray Line in the Dominican Republic informed that starting this year the tourist company will reestablish the Hop On / Hop Off excursion, which consists of a panoramic bus in which passengers receive detailed information in their own language about the history of Santo Domingo’s past and present.
According to its president, Juan Tomas Díaz Infante, the route will start at the Catedral Primada de América, located on the corner of Arzobispo Meriño and Isabel La Católica streets, in the Colonial Zone, and will cover an extensive route.
“The most attractive thing is that the buses travel in a circuit, making stops at the different points of tourist and historical attraction of the city. Passengers can get off at the tourist attraction of their interest, explore for an hour and board the bus again to go to another stop,” he explained.
The tour includes the central commercial part of the capital and the Colonial City. The tourist attractions included in the second are Plaza España, Atarazana, the ruins of San Francisco, the Malecón, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, which was the first university founded in the New World in 1538.
In addition, the downtown area includes Blue Mall, the Botanical Garden, the Quisqueya Stadium, the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium and the Plaza de la Cultura, which contains the National Library, the National Theater, the Museum of Dominican Man, the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Natural History and the Museum of Geography. Also, the National Palace, Independence Park, the Model Market, the Cathedral of the Americas, Chinatown, El Conde pedestrian street and the Ozama Fortress.
“We are very pleased to be able to resume these cultural activities that allow our tourists to learn about and appreciate our culture and history and to enjoy their visit to the Dominican Republic even more,” said Díaz Infante.
It is recalled that the city tour in Santo Domingo in which Gray Line is a pioneer in the country.
