Hotel occupancy in the Dominican Rep. increases

The occupancy rate of the Dominican Republic recorded an increase of 90% year-on-year between January 2021 and January 2022, according to information provided to our Infotur Dominicano colleagues by the Association of Hotels and Tourism (Asonahores), which demonstrates part of the result of the work developed by the Government through the Tourism Cabinet, coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism and the private sector.
In that sense. the Dominican Republic registered in January 2021 a hotel room occupancy rate of 37.1% while for January 2022, it has registered an average of 70.5%, that is to say an absolute difference of 33.4% according to the data provided to Infotur Dominicano, by Asonahores.
For the first month of the year, the destination Romana – Bayahibe led the hotel occupancy rate with 87.5%, which also registered the highest volume increase compared to January 2021, with +42.1%, followed by the destination Bávaro – Punta Cana with 75.9% with an increase of -Y38.1% and in third place is Boca Chica – Juan Dolio with 72.4% (+41.3%).
In the same order are Sosua – Cabarete 63% (+25.8%); Santo Domingo 56% (+20.1%); Samana 51.6% (4-20.4); Puerto Plata 48.5% (14.3); and Santiago 45.7 (4-7%).
