JAC: air services agreement will boost tourism between DR and Guatemala

The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, granted Full Powers to José E. Marte Piantini, president of the Civil Aviation Board (JAC), to sign the Air Services Agreement between the Dominican Republic and Guatemala.

The information was made known through communication number 20-21, dated April 26, 2021, in which President Abinader states that: “In exercise of the attributions conferred upon me by Article 128 of the Constitution of the Republic, and in accordance with the provisions set forth in Law no. 1486, of March 20, 1938, on Representation of the State in Legal Acts, I hereby grant Full Powers to the president of the Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic, Dr. José Ernesto Marte Piantini, so that, in the name and on behalf of the Dominican State, he may subscribe the Air Services Agreement between the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Guatemala”.

Marte Piantini pointed out that the signing of the bilateral agreement will further boost aerocommercial relations between the two countries.

“During this administration of change, our President Luis Abinader has wanted to focus his efforts on boosting Dominican tourism after the pandemic and this is just one example of the set of actions he is carrying out to achieve this,” he added.

He also added that along with other mandates from the President, the JAC is working to consolidate the country’s leadership as a tourist destination in the Caribbean region.

“With the signing of the air services agreements with Spain, Canada and Guatemala, the country is close to signing three important agreements for the reactivation of tourism in the country,” he said.
