Medical Express, the project that will promote health tourism in the DR, begins operations

President Luis Abinader broke ground for the construction of Médico Express, a modern health center that will provide access to first-world medicine to the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, contributing to the transfer of technology and improving the quality of life of its population.

In his keynote speech at the event, Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, CEO of Médico Express, said: “our vision is to provide high quality and safe health services for local patients and tourists, with the support of a multidisciplinary team of specialists and state-of-the-art technology”.

He pointed out that, “the protocols and design of Médico Express are conceived under international standards, with a personalized, accessible and expeditious attention model”.

He indicated that Médico Express San Isidro is located in the municipality of Santo Domingo Este, “an area that presents a scarce health offer and important competitive advantages for medical tourism, since many family members of the Dominican diaspora reside there and the sector is close to the airport, port and hotels”.

Cambiaso highlighted that the center will offer a mobile application to make appointments, see results and facilitate continuity of care, having a modern software that will integrate its electronic medical record, images and administrative module, betting on the internationalization, modernization and digital transformation of the Dominican health sector.

He explained that the center, with an area of 8,500 square meters of construction, has the financial backing of Advanced Asset Management and Lazul Inversiones with a view to developing opportunities for 200 direct jobs and 400 indirect jobs.

In this sense, Felipe Amador, CEO of Advanced Asset Management, informed that “the Médico Express facilities are possible given an investment of approximately one billion pesos, the Center will be a pioneer in the area and will be the first of a network of health centers under this modality, which we plan to support in the next 5 years”.

The executive also considered that the stock market must play a crucial role in the development of sectors such as health and tourism, since “this type of initiative will facilitate the generation of direct and indirect jobs, in addition to promoting the generation of foreign currency, strengthening the national economy and, in turn, the levels of competitiveness”.

Francesco Fino, Commercial Vice-President of Médico Express, said that the center will have local and international teaching and assistance alliances, supporting research and diagnostic studies, and will also accept a wide range of local and international medical insurances.

“Médico Express will offer an innovative and expanded concept of Emergency Centers, which will include emergency areas for adults and pediatrics, 14 consulting rooms with the main medical specialties, a modern outpatient operating room, clinical laboratory, women’s clinic, dialysis unit, gastroenterology, preventive check-up area, telemedicine, international department and state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging equipment that does not currently exist in the municipality of Santo Domingo East,” he added.
