Mitur redesigns Juan Dolio tourist destination to attract investment

Mora: “The construction of new hotels in Juan Dolio goes hand in hand with the adaptation of the whole area”.

Jacqueline Mora, technical vice-minister of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), stated that the tourist zone of Juan Dolio has been reactivated and continuity is expected in its development due to the works being carried out assumed by Mitur and which will raise its value for investment.

“Work is being done in the destination. There are new projects for the construction of rooms that are on the way and that are scheduled in Confotur”, he added.

He explained that the construction of new hotels in Juan Dolio goes hand in hand with the adaptation of the entire area, “since it is very difficult to put a hotel where the treatment plant of the area was not in operation, which was part of what greatly affected Juan Dolio, as well as the conditions of the beaches”.

He emphasized that it is not only to meet the needs of creating hotels to meet the demand for accommodation, but it is necessary to emphasize “and this is what we are working on from the Ministry with other entities” in redesigning a destination that costs time and money.

“Definitely if there is the possibility of creating new projects because Juan Dolio is a natural destination for real estate investment and the MICE segment, what we have to do is to have the destination more careful and that is what we are working on to maintain and raise the occupancy rate, which is currently around 40%,” said Mora.
