Tourism opens pumping stations that will benefit more than 128 thousand people in Puerto Plata

President Luis Abinader, together with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, inaugurated in the San Felipe municipality, Puerto Plata the project for the rehabilitation of the pumping stations: Long Beach, Padre Granero I, Bello Costero and Manolo Tavárez Justo, with a superior investment at 79 million pesos.

The work, built by the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), through the Executive Committee of Infrastructure of Tourist Zones (Ceiztur), will directly benefit a population of 69,823 inhabitants, and indirectly 58,417, for a total of 128,240 inhabitants throughout the head municipality.

In this sense, President Luis Abinader explained that the main objective of the pumping stations is to impact and improve the conditions of the sanitary service in all the affected areas of the municipality of San Felipe, solving the problem quickly and effectively.

On his side, the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, said that the Government is committed and believes in sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism, and this work that is delivered carries a solution for sanitary and waste water, ending pollution from Long Beach.

He said that yesterday 16,000 tourists entered the country, the largest number after the pandemic, for a total of 230,000 in March, hoping to close the month with 260,000 tourists, as a result of the efforts made by the President of the Republic, overcoming all the obstacles left by Covid-19.

The interventions directly benefit the communities of: Padre Granero, Bello Costero, Codetel, Torre Alta I, II, III, IV and V, Los Reyes, Las Caobas, Cristo Rey, Colinas del Sur and Cerro Mar.

With the construction of the pumping stations in the Padre Granero, Bello Costero and Codetel sectors, the problem of wastewater overflow through the sewer lines, inspection registers and street contents is solved, according to a statement.

The works include the supply and installation of nine (9) submersible pumps, repair of 3 pumps, supply and installation of 4 control panels, including solid state starters, as well as the supply and installation of 3 electric generators, 6 transformers, among others.
