The Air Force Officers’ Wives Association of the DR (AEOFARD), the Specialized Airport and Civil Aviation Security Corps (Cesac) and Skyhigh Dominicana airline joined forces to provide an airport experience and a flight without destination to the children of the FARD Summer Squadron Camp. The camp is attended by the children of officers and enlisted personnel of the DR Air Force (FARD).
At the event, which began at the Las Americas International Airport (AILA), the children of the camp were received by Floreal Suarez Martinez, FARD, director general of CESAC, and his wife Maria Henriquez de Suarez, who gave them passports and personalized simulated boarding passes.
During their visit, the children learned about the entire process that takes place at the time of travel, the waiting room and the security measures applied to people and luggage at the airport terminal, as well as the AVSEC agents in charge of each function.
The meeting was attended by Carlos Febrillet Rodríguez, commander general of the Air Force of the DR (FARD), and his wife, Mencía Ortiz de Febrillet, president of AEOFARD; as well as executives of the Skyhigh airline, who addressed a few words of welcome to the children before boarding the aircraft.
In the aircraft, the children explored the internal parts of the plane, then they were transported to the rescue and firefighting area, where they learned how to put on the protective jacket used by firefighters before going out to an emergency call, with the challenge of changing the part of the uniform in less than 15 seconds.
“We are honored to be able to provide them with this unique, playful and educational experience. We hope they enjoyed it and learned about airport and civil aviation safety, as well as flight operations,” said Suarez Martinez.
María Henríquez de Suárez added that “it is a pleasure to see the emotion on their faces and to know that we have contributed to their education and entertainment, this memory will remain impregnated as an unforgettable moment of love in our hearts. Thank you all for your enthusiasm and participation.”
The event concluded with entertainment and lunch, words of thanks to the director of Cesac and the emotional testimony of a little girl representing all the participants, according to the local press.
