AERODOM registers record new routes to SDQ, POP and AZS

AERODOM, part of the VINCI Airports network, has registered a record number of new flight routes for this year 2022. A total of 23 new routes, operated by seven airlines, will provide more and better flight options to all passengers and tourists from major cities in the Americas and Europe.

“We are delighted to see the continued growth in flights and passengers registered by our airports, led by José Francisco Peña Gómez Las Americas International Airport (AILA-JFPG). This record is possible thanks to the solid and continuous support we receive from all the authorities.

Of the 23 new routes registered for this year, 9 have already begun operations.

These are Santo Domingo – Medellín with WINGO, Puerto Plata – Frankfurt with Eurowings Discover; Santo Domingo and Samaná – Madrid with Plus Ultra; Santo Domingo Caracas and Maracaibo with Rutaca; and Santo Domingo – Barranquilla and Cartagena with Air Century.

The remaining 14 new routes are scheduled to start flights between September and October, and will connect Santo Domingo with Mexico City, Cancun, and Monterrey in Mexico, Cali, Cali, and Cartagena.

In terms of traffic, from January to July 2022, the airports operated by AERODOM received more passengers than in the same period of 2019 before the
pandemic. To date, AERODOM has handled traffic of 3.4 million passengers, representing a growth of 9.3% when compared to total passengers in 2019.

“We are convinced that the significant development in routes will support passenger traffic growth. We are working to increase the boarding gates at AILA-JFPG, with the vision of transforming our airport into a new regional hub that will provide new opportunities for the launch of more routes to multiple destinations,” Mónika Infante added.

Expansions and Improvements

AERODOM recently invested more than RD$1 billion in the AILA-JFPG to expand and renovate the central atrium of the passenger terminal, which now has a new and varied commercial offer, including a better gastronomic experience for the enjoyment of users.

The AILA-JFPG is the main air terminal of the Dominican Republic due to its location and ranks second in the flow of regular passengers in the country. AERODOM also operates the international airports Gregorio Luperón in Puerto Plata, Presidente Juan Bosch in Samaná and Joaquín Balaguer in Santo Domingo Norte.
