Guatemala to have direct flights from Petén to Dominican Republic

The next air route that Guatemala will enable will be with direct flights from the Mundo Maya International Airport in Peten, to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Alejandro Giammattei made the announcement and emphasized that this is the first airline in the Caribbean to fly direct to Guatemala and has chosen Petén.

Subsequently, they will enable the route from Santo Domingo to Guatemala, he added. He also celebrated that Mexican airlines that did not come before, are now arriving to the territory.

For this reason, he urged the local authorities and the population to prepare themselves to receive tourism so that they can “appreciate the natural beauties in a pleasant and clean environment. Let them take with them a good image”, he emphasized, during the beginning of the first day of the Clean Beaches 2022 program.

He asked for an extension of the forestry concessions term
To continue with the preservation of the environment, Giammattei asked for the support of Congressmen Manuel Conde and Fidel Reyes Lee, to approve the bill that seeks to extend the term of forestry concessions for up to 50 years.

“I believe in forestry concessions and in their results,” he said. As an example, he recalled that they have doubled in the two years of his government. On March 22, Giammattei assured that in less than 8 months they have delivered 3,500 land titles, benefiting 20 thousand people.

“We want to give them a better contribution regime so that they can earn more and not only introduce convoys to improve the roads. That is why we dare to set 50-year concessions to benefit three generations”, he urged the two legislators who are part of the official alliance.
