The airline Iberojet made its first direct flight Barcelona-Punta Cana, with two weekly frequencies, on Mondays and Fridays, during the summer, increasing the flow of passengers to this destination and continuing to strengthen the arrival of more European tourists to Quisqueya.
The passengers and crew landed at the Punta Cana air terminal in the Airbus 330 aircraft, marked with flight E9841, accompanied by Orion Hernandez, Production Director of Iberojet Airlines and the president and CEO of the Puntacana Group, Frank Elias Rainieri, and were welcomed by the folkloric ballet of the Ministry of Tourism (MITUR).
The Production Director of Iberojet airline, said that a few months ago the company decided to operate a direct route Barcelona-Punta Cana due to the high demand that exists, which initially was one frequency, but, due to the wide request they increased to two.
“We have been operating in Punta Cana for a long time, with six weekly frequencies from Madrid, Spain; one from Oporto and another from Lisbon, Portugal and we were observing the demand to operate direct flights from Barcelona, so that passengers from the region would not have to travel to Madrid and other places to come here, at the beginning, we thought to make one frequency, but we saw that demand was very good and we opted for two rotations a week,” said Hernandez.
He informed that in this first frequency Iberojet landed with 250 passengers, having already, a great amount of tickets sold for the next flights, at the time of indicating that, if the demand continues, they would like to incorporate other flights in a stable way throughout the year.
“We are seeing a very high demand to Punta Cana and there is great expectation, passengers who come by tour operator or who buy on our website,” he said.
At the inaugural ceremony of the first direct flight Barcelona-Punta Cana, were present Joaquín Mateo, director of Iberojet in America, Giovanni Rainieri, director of Airside Operations at Punta Cana Airport.
This operation is part of the vacation offer of the tour operators of Ávoris Corporación Empresaria.
