Importance of establishing flights between DR and Morocco

The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, the Dominican-Moroccan Parliamentary group, and the Dominican ambassador to Morocco, carried out intense work abroad, through several meetings with different officials during an official visit to that nation.

Among the most important issues discussed in Morocco was the support of the proposal to establish direct flights from Morocco to the Dominican Republic, in order to increase the commercial and tourist flow between the two countries, as well as to continue strengthening the ties of cooperation between the two nations, according to a press release on Monday.

During the meetings, Alfredo Pacheco highlighted what Morocco represents for the Dominican Republic and said that “it is the gateway to Africa and our country represents Morocco’s gateway to the Caribbean Basin and a large part of Latin America”.

The Dominican delegation, headed by Pacheco, Rosa Hilda Genao, who chairs the Dominican-Moroccan Parliamentary Group, and Amaury Justo Duarte, ambassador, was received by Rachid Talbi El Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco.

At the meeting, both parliamentary groups and the presidents of both Legislative Chambers addressed common agenda items and agreed to join efforts to generate legislative conditions that promote emblematic institutional, economic and social transformations.

The agenda developed by the legislators included socialization with Naama Mayara, president of the Chamber of Councilors; Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Laila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom of Morocco and Khalihenna Ould Errachid, president of the Royal Consultative Council for Saharan Affairs.Dominican Delegation

Also, the delegation of Dominican legislators discussed how to renew the determination of both parliaments to act jointly and give continuity to the parliamentary friendship groups, common agendas, exchange of experiences, capacity building for the mutual benefit of both countries, among other issues.

Similarly, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, they discussed various issues for strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and projects that could be implemented in the coming months for mutual support.

With Naama Mayara, President of the Chamber of Councilors of the Kingdom of Morocco, they committed to continue joining efforts to generate legislative conditions that promote emblematic institutional, economic and social transformations.

Meanwhile, with Laila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition, they learned about the processes carried out by the Ministry in favor of energy and sustainability, and exchanged views on the energy systems of both nations.

The delegation was composed, in addition to Alfredo Pacheco, by Rosa Hilda Genao, president of the Dominican-Moroccan parliamentary friendship group, José Luis Rodríguez Hiciano, María Elisa Suarez, Pedro Martínez Moronta, Damarys Vásquez, Geraldo Antonio Concepción Vargas and Enriqueta Rojas.
