Low-cost flights from Paraguay to DR a step away, say experts

During her stay in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, during the 118th meeting of the Executive Council of the UNWTO, the Minister of Tourism, Sofía Montiel de Afara held a working meeting with her counterpart, David Collado Morales.

They discussed the possibility of connecting Paraguay and the Dominican Republic through the airline “AraJet”, following up on the actions already initiated by the Company before the National Civil Aeronautics Directorate (DINAC).

Minister Montiel met with representatives of the airline AraJet and the Vice Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, to establish the next actions and to advance with the National Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DINAC). Dominican Republic, to establish next actions and advance in the required processes already initiated to establish the direct air route between Punta Cana -Asunción.

The airline expressed its interest in flying to Paraguay, and the importance of a strategic alliance with the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, SENATUR, and DINAC, in order to articulate the exchange of tourism offerings of both countries.

AraJet S.A. is a Dominican ultra low cost airline. It is based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and its operations began on September 15, 2022.

The airline currently connects Santo Domingo with North, Central and South America offering flights to 12 countries and 20 cities including Mexico City, Monterrey and Cancun in Mexico; Lima in Peru; Barranquilla, Cali and Cartagena in Colombia, San Salvador in El Salvador, San Jose in Costa Rica and Saint Marteen in the Caribbean.
