More than 3 million passengers flew through DR airports in the first quarter of this year

In the first quarter of this year, the Dominican Republic mobilized 3,812,010 passengers transported in 28,781 regular flight operations to and from the national territory, according to the statistical report issued by the Civil Aviation Board (JAC).

According to the figures offered by the Air Transport Statistics Division of this entity, during the month of January 1,287,951 travelers were transported in 10,470 operations, registering this month as the second best in the flow of passengers by air since March 2020 and December 2021.

On the other hand, in February, 1,177,647 passengers were transported in 9,032 operations, tripling the amount of the same month of 2021.

In that sense, the data contained in the Report corresponding to the month of March show that 1,346,412 passengers were transported in 10,285 operations, placing this as the third March with the highest number of passengers in the history of the country, after March 2019 and 2018.

Likewise, the JAC reported that the first quarter of the year registered a total of 5,611 inbound and outbound charter flight operations, totaling 29,787 scheduled and non-scheduled air operations carried out from January to March of the year.

“These operations demonstrate confidence in the soundness of the Dominican market,” said JAC president José Marte Piantini in the report.

Marte further added that “the establishment of bilateral air transport relations arranged by the Dominican Republic through the JAC has contributed significantly to connectivity, resulting beneficial mainly air transport users.”

Finally, the official informed that during the months of January, February and March 2022, the country received 266 commercial airlines from different parts of the world, to which will be added the operations of the Arajet airline as of next May.
