Sky Cana started flights between Cuba and Punta Cana

The Dominican airline Sky Cana, in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) and the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Cuba, through the wholesale agency Yes Travel of the United States, have managed to start an operation with Cuban tourists from Havana on Saturday June 11 through the Punta Cana International Airport, reported Arecoa.

Carlos Courtaux, CEO of YES Travel, said that “it is a dream come true after almost 2 years of organization, that together with the Dominican authorities we achieved the operation where its greatest success is to see the joy of these families”.

On the other hand, Liliana Suarez, COO of Yes Travel, explained that the flights from Cuba will take place every Saturday until the end of August and the agency also handles direct flights from Miami with package tours to Punta Cana with the Dominican company Sky Cana and the land services are provided by Vacaciones Barceló, official agency of Barceló Hotels. The same goes to several hotel chains in the area such as Lopesan, Barcelo Palace, Royalton, Melia, Serenade, Riu, Live Aqua, among others.

“I could not contain the joy of seeing how families who had 20 years without seeing each other, others who did not know their grandchildren, nephews, nieces and others who had never returned to their homeland, and with the flights began to meet again in the Dominican Republic, a country they consider their second home because here they feel the human warmth of their homeland, Cuba,” he added.

It is recalled that with this operation an influx of almost 15,000 visitors is estimated for the summer season.
