This week-end: Due to the effect of the trough, downpours and thunderstorms

We remain with a hot environment due to the summer season, September being one of the hottest months of the year. As for precipitation, we remain under the influence of a trough that is manifesting over the country and in addition to factors such as warming, orography and the northeasterly wind that drags its cloudiness, we expect the occurrence of showers or scattered showers, thunderstorms and isolated gusts of wind in different parts of the country and we expect them to be present until nightfall.

For the weekend, weather conditions will be favorable for cloudy conditions with showers or showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts, especially during the afternoon until early evening, towards points of the northwest, north, northeast, southeast, Central Mountain Range and border area, as a result of the trough that affects us and the indirect effects that we will be receiving from the active tropical wave associated with a low circulation (possible tropical disturbance), which is currently located east of the Windward Islands (Lesser Antilles).

ONAMET is monitoring two tropical disturbances: the first, hundreds of kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles with medium probability (about 50% in 48 hours rising to 70% in 5 days) and the second, northwest of the Cape Verde Islands and low probability (10% in 48 hours), respectively to become a tropical cyclone.

We report that during the morning of this Friday tropical storm DANIELLE became a category I hurricane and is the first of the current cyclonic season, 2022, located about 1425 km west of the Azores, has maximum sustained winds of 120 km / h and is moving slowly east at about 2 km/h. Due to its position and displacement, it does not pose any danger to the country.

Temperatures will remain hot due to the time of the year, for this reason, we maintain the recommendation to the entire population to drink enough fluids, wear light colored clothes and not to expose themselves directly to solar radiation during the period of greatest sunshine (between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm).

National District: Occasional clouds with scattered showers, thundershowers and isolated gusts of wind.
