This week-end: Hot with little rain

The weather conditions for the Dominican Republic will not show appreciable changes for this afternoon and evening in most of the towns. This is due to the entrance of dust particles from the Sahara that inhibits the formation of significant clouds, causing a decrease in the humidity content and an increase in the hot thermal sensation.

However, the presence of a trough in the north of the country associated with a frontal system in a state of dissipation, will combine with local effects (diurnal and orographic warming.

So that during the afternoon until the early hours of the night there will be cloud increases with isolated downpours, distant thunderstorms and possible wind gusts over the north, northwest and Central Cordillera.

These precipitations will be frequent in the provinces: Dajabón, Elías Piña, Puerto Plata, Valverde, Espaillat, Santiago Rodríguez, Santiago, among others.

For tomorrow, Sunday

It is forecast that in the morning hours there will be cloud increases with isolated showers towards the Caribbean coast and the northeastern region.

However, the atmospheric pattern will begin to change in the afternoon, due to an increase in moisture content and instability over our forecast area that will generate a trough.

Local moderate to heavy downpours, thunderstorms and wind gusts are expected over the northwest, northeast, Central Cordillera and the border area until the early hours of the night.

For the rest of the country, rainfall will remain scarce.

Temperatures will continue to be quite hot, due to the combination of dust coming from the Sahara and the southeast wind. For this reason, the Dominican population is advised to drink enough liquids (water), wear light clothes (preferably light colors) and not to expose themselves to direct sunlight from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. without protection.

National District: warm temperature and few clouds.
