This week-end: Scattered showers with thundershowers

Friday, September 03, 2021 at 6:00 a.m. valid until Sunday, September 05 at 6:00 a.m.

Scattered showers with thundershowers in the afternoon towards several points of the country. Hot temperatures.

During the morning hours we will observe a meteorological panorama of scarce rains over most of the national territory, however, starting in the afternoon there will be some cloudy developments that will be accompanied by local downpours with thunderstorms, especially over the northeastern and southeastern regions, the Central Mountain Range and the border area, this is due to the incidence of a weak trough in the lower levels of the troposphere and the effects of the east/southeast wind.

For tomorrow, Saturday, the approach of a tropical wave is forecast, which will be interacting with a trough, both will induce clouds for local downpours with thunderstorms and occasional gusts of wind towards the northeast, southeast, the Central Mountain Range and the northern part of Greater Santo Domingo.

Temperatures will remain quite warm, due to the time of year and the warm wind from the east/southeast, therefore, ONAMET, recommends the population, drink plenty of fluids, preferably water and avoid exposure to the sun for prolonged periods from 11:00 AM to 05:00 PM.

ONAMET informs:

Hurricane Larry is located about 1560 kilometers west of Cape Verde Island, has maximum sustained winds of 150 kph and is moving west/northwest at 31 km/h. ONAMET is monitoring the evolution and development of this system.

An area of showers and disorganized thunderstorms associated with a low pressure system over the Gulf of Honduras, it has a low probability (20%) to become a tropical cyclone in 5 days.
