This week: increasing clouds with moderate downpours

The meteorological environment will continue to be favorable for cloud increases with moderate downpours at times, thunderstorms and wind gusts over the northeast, southeast, Central Cordillera and the border area, being more frequent over the provinces:

  • El Seibo
  • Hato Mayor
  • Monte Plata
  • Monte Plata
  • Duarte
  • Santiago
  • Sanchez Ramirez
  • San Juan de la Maguana
  • San Cristobal and El Gran Santo Domingo, among others.

This rainfall activity is due to the incidence of a trough observed at different levels of the troposphere, combined with local effects (diurnal and orographic warming), and the displacement of clouds caused by the prevailing wind from the east. Precipitation will be more frequent during the afternoon until early evening.

For tomorrow, Tuesday. In the early morning, scattered showers are expected over the provinces near the Caribbean coast. The trough at different levels of the troposphere will continue to weaken, however, humidity and instability will increase over our territory as a result of the approach of a tropical wave and the effects of the prevailing wind from the east.

Both atmospheric conditions will produce clouds accompanied by downpours, thunderstorms and wind gusts over the northeastern regions, the eastern plains, the southern coastal coast, as well as the Central Cordillera and the border area, from early morning hours, in the afternoon and evening.

National District: Medium cloudy to cloudy at times with showers and thundershowers, especially in the afternoon and early evening.

West Santo Domingo: Medium cloudy to cloudy at times with showers and thundershowers in the afternoon.
