Government allocates close to 700 million pesos

Ramón Pérez Fermín, Vice-Minister of Domestic Trade, announced this Friday that the Dominican Government will remain firm in its commitment to protect the family economy by maintaining fuel prices unchanged this week. This will be achieved thanks to extraordinary subsidies totaling nearly 700 million pesos, destined to contain the variations of the international market.

“In keeping with a constant commitment to the welfare and economic stability of our country, the Dominican Government once again informs the citizens of the decisions taken this week regarding fuel prices,” stated Pérez Fermín during his announcement.

The international price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil averaged DR 85.85 per barrel this week, which represents a significant increase of +6.84 % compared to the previous week’s average. In the last two months, an increase of close to 22.3 % has been observed in the price of WTI.

In view of this situation, the Dominican Government has decided to take strong measures to protect citizens from the fluctuations of the international fuel market and to prevent the recent increases from having a negative impact on the family economy.

The subsidy will be applied as follows:

● Regular gasoline will be subsidized with DR 33.27 per gallon.

● Premium gasoline will be subsidized with DR 24.26 per gallon.

● Regular diesel will benefit from a subsidy of DR 50.370 per gallon.

● Optimum diesel will be subsidized with DR 48.63 per gallon.

The Government’s commitment is to guarantee that all Dominicans, especially the most vulnerable, can acquire these products at the most competitive price possible. As a result of these measures, fuel prices will remain stable this week, to provide important relief to the family economy. Consequently, fuel prices will be sold this week at the following values:

Premium gasoline DR 293.10 per gallon maintains its price.
Regular gasoline DR 274.50 per gallon maintains its price.
Regular diesel DR 221.60 per gallon maintains its price.
Optimum diesel DR 239.10 per gallon maintains its price.
Avtur DR 225.21 per gallon decreases DR 5.15.
Kerosene DR 257.10 per gallon up DR 6.10
Fuel oil #6 DR 174.79 per gallon down DR 5.51
Fuel oil 1%S DR 186.46 per gallon down DR 1.09
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) DR 132.60 per gallon maintains its price.
Natural Gas DR 43.97 per m3 maintains its price.

The weekly average exchange rate is DR 56.91, taken from the daily publications of the Central Bank.
