Government: Build an airfield in San Francisco de Macorís

The Regional Development Council asked President Luis Abinader to take on the construction of the Northeast Multiple Aerodrome in San Francisco de Macoris.

In this regard, Raul Alvarez Sturla, deputy director of the Council’s Strategy Commission, considered that this project would have a positive impact, especially in its relevant territorial framework, having as its central axis all the communities that make up the provinces of Duarte, Juan Sanchez Ramirez and Hermanas Mirabal, in addition to the towns of Ranchito, Jima Abajo and Controba in the province of La Vega.

“To give way without further delay to the Aerodromo Múltiple del Nordeste, located in the city of San Francisco de Macorís, is a vision and a positive action that our times Aeródromo SFMdemand from the current government and the next government, as well as from our political parties and all the sectors committed to a better present and future for our nation”, he said.

He understands that such airway, together with the Northeast-Dominican International Railroad, would also promote industrial, agro-industrial, agribusiness, technological and biotechnological development accompanied by a certain and palpable human and socioeconomic progress.

“It calls therefore to admit that, in the rural areas and the provinces of its surroundings, there is a very worrying social and economic backwardness together with a harmful migratory process that demand to be eradicated”, he considered.

He indicated that “one cannot walk ignoring that San Francisco de Macorís is a vibrant city full of potential for being the third most robust city of the RD, given its high scale of agricultural production, the strength of its entrepreneurial class and its different structures”, according to Diario Libre.
