Consulate of Dominican Republic in Cuba Modifies Requirements for Multiple Business Visa for MSMEs

The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Havana informed the modification of the visa requirements that benefit MSMEs in Cuba.

This was announced recently during a meeting held by Ceila Licelot Encarnación de Peña, Consul General of the Dominican Republic in the island, with Cuban businessmen in the Cuban capital.

What are the changes in the visa requirements introduced by the Consulate of the Dominican Republic?

The modification contemplates the elimination of the guarantor who resides in the Dominican Republic, requirement demanded for the visa application in order to travel to that territory, a benefit to which only those MSMEs that are already constituted apply.

The purpose of the measure is to grant a Multiple Business visa to Cuban businessmen so that they may travel to the Dominican Republic for shopping tourism.

This would allow these businessmen to acquire wholesale products to supply the companies in accordance with their interests.

Who can apply for this visa?

The Multiple Business visa can be requested by the persons who preside a MSME in Cuba.

It may also be requested by the members of these companies as partners, administrators and other persons registered in official documents and duly certified by the Ministry of Economy and Planning of Cuba.

What documents are required to apply for the visa?

To opt for a business visa to enter Dominican territory, Cuban businessmen presiding MSMEs in Cuba must submit to the authorities of the Dominican Embassy in Havana the documents duly updated.

Among these are the following:

Passport valid for at least 6 months
Certification of the MSME issued by the Ministry of Economy and Planning of the island.
Certificate of Criminal Record endorsed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba.
Evidence of the incorporation of the company with the registration of the names of its partners.
Statement of the estimated amount of the purchases to be made
Personal letter of application for the visa
Corresponding form
Copy of the passport page containing personal data
Present Cuban identity card and a copy of the same.
A 4×5 photo
Any other document considered necessary for this process.

What is the validity of the Multiple Business visa?

This type of visa will have a value of US$150 in cash and a validity period of 1 year; in addition, it will guarantee multiple entries to the Dominican Republic with a maximum stay in that country of up to 60 days.

The cost of the Multiple Business visa includes the processing of the same, as well as the legalization of the criminal record.

Dominican authorities will verify the return to the Caribbean island of all those who benefit from this measure.

According to a communiqué shared by the Diplomatic Mission of the Dominican Republic, the Multiple Business visas can already be requested by the interested parties who meet the above mentioned requirements.

The facilities for the granting of this type of visas were suggested by Abel Vasquer Hevia, president of the National Federation of Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs of the Dominican Republic approximately 2 years ago.

By that time, the Dominican businessman highlighted the importance of stimulating shopping tourism, specifically in buyers coming from Cuba and made the proposal to review the policy for granting visas.
