Interior and Police: Achievements for businessmen

The Ministry of Interior and Police (MIP) presented to the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) the progress and achievements obtained with the programs it is developing and details of the second stage of the Reform and Transformation of the National Police, called Police Reform 2.0.

In this regard, the head of the institution, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, presented the scope of the program “De Vuelta al Barrio” (Back to the Neighborhood), already installed in five districts: La Romana, Santiago, the National District, West Santo Domingo and Baní.

Ministerio De Interior Y Policía EmpresariosRegarding the innovative initiative, which is part of the Integral Strategy for Citizen Security “My Safe Country”, he emphasized that thanks to its implementation, crime has been significantly reduced and gave as an example the case of La Romana where the homicide rate dropped to 11.3%, which represents an unprecedented fact.

He also reported on the success of the Conflict Mediators Leaders Network Program, directed by Attorney Sonia Espejo, which has trained 3,591 young people.

Minister accompanied by director of the national police

The minister was accompanied by the director of the National Police, Major General Ramon Antonio Guzman Peralta, and the commissioner of the National Police Reform, Luis Ernesto Garcia, who explained to the business leaders the implementation of the Police Reform 2.0.

He said that this will allow to continue strengthening the institution in its role of guaranteeing public order and citizen security. He also emphasized that more sectors will continue to be integrated and will deepen the vision to be achieved by the new entity.

The meeting was attended by the president of the Union of Traders of Peravia, Ramón de los Santos, who spoke to the executives of Conep about the implementation of the DR Model Citizen program, which started in that district and was taken over by the Ministry of Interior and Police.

Purpose of the initiative

He said that the purpose of the initiative is to encourage men and women to be good citizens, law-abiding and law-abiding, so that with their good conduct they can be an example for other people to follow.

The advances, strategies and achievements were welcomed by the board of directors of Conep.

Celso Juan Marranzini, president of Conep, César R. Dargam Espaillat, executive vice-president, Julio V. Brache, first vice-president, and Lina García de Blasco, second vice-president, participated on behalf of the business entity.

Also present were Mario Lama, Carlos Iglesias and Carlos Cueto, among other Conep executives who attended, some in person and others virtually.

Víctor Benavides Valerio, Director of the Ministerial Cabinet, and Ricardo Fortuna, Director of Communications, participated for the MIP.
