The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) appointed Gloria Fluxá as its new vice president and chair of its Sustainability Committee. Fluxá assumes the position held by Intrepid Group co-founder and president Darrell Wade, who stepped into the position in 2020.
Fluxá serves as vice president and CSO of Grupo Iberostar, passionate about transforming the industry toward a responsible tourism model, she drives Iberostar’s sustainability strategy, which includes its Wave of Change movement in support of coastal health, a decarbonization strategy to achieve emissions neutrality by 2030 and the evolution of its operations toward circularity. Based on her extensive industry knowledge and passion for sustainability, she was recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
As a member of the fourth generation of the family business, Gloria continues Iberostar’s legacy as a purpose-driven organization that integrates its values and commitments to customers, the environment and its communities, something for which Iberostar has been recognized for the past 65 years.
