Energy and Mines to present DR investment opportunities in Spain

The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM), through the Vice Ministry of Hydrocarbons, participated in the “International Conference and Exhibition 2023: Geoscience Solutions to the Energy Trilemma”, where it presented the investment opportunities that the Dominican Republic has in hydrocarbon exploration.

During the activity, held from November 6 to 8 by the Association of Petroleum Geologists of America (AAPG), the Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Walkiria Caamaño, highlighted the advances in oil and gas exploration in the San Pedro de Macorís basin and encouraged investors in the sector to participate in the second round of exploration in the country.

“For us it is very important that investors are interested in this type of exploration and investment in the Dominican Republic”, said the official, who was accompanied by the director of Exploration and Production of Hydrocarbons of the MEM, Nisael Dirocié.

Dirocié explained that at the event, the efforts made by the Dominican Republic to position this nation as an attractive destination for investment in hydrocarbon exploration were presented at a stand set up by the MEM.

The three-day program was full of presentations and exchanges of experiences regarding the reliability, availability and sustainability of energy, with emphasis on the future of conventional oil and gas exploration activities, the growing importance of CO2 disposal, geothermal and critical minerals and new roles, as well as the digital competence of geoscientists.

Participants included the governments of Spain, France, England, the United States, Canada, Uruguay, Suriname, Peru, Turkey, the Philippines and Morocco, among other nations.
