It will be moderated by Luis Molina Maríñez, senior vice-president of Corporate and Business Banking of the bank.

In announcing the forum, Luis Molina Maríñez said that “tourism is a great enhancer of development in the communities and, consequently, of the country. Hence our interest in establishing a space for conversation on the best sustainability practices in the industry, which at the same time translate into progress for the companies that make it up.

The BHD will participate in Fitur

The day after the forum, the BHD will participate in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), which will be held from January 24 to 28. A delegation led by Steven Puig, president of the BHD, will be present at the event.

Molina Maríñez highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism to promote the DR at this global fair and encourage the development of the country’s tourism industry.

During Fitur, considered a global meeting point for the Ibero-American tourism industry, the BHD will present a proposal for participating companies, which includes the presence of specialized executives to offer advice and financing.

“Our value proposition for tourism projects focuses on offering a financial service of excellence. We offer loan structuring services, administration of syndicated loans, sale and leaseback, management of resources in the capital markets, and mergers and acquisitions,” said Molina Maríñez.

These services are offered by Banco BHD’s team of experts in structuring financing in the tourism and related services, mass consumption and commerce, infrastructure and construction, manufacturing and agriculture, financial institutions, government and social sectors.

Banco BHD has been supporting tourism for more than 15 years. It has an exclusive unit with a focus on tourism within its Corporate and Business Banking, made up of specialists in the sector and with nationwide coverage.

“In 2023 alone, BHD’s tourism sector portfolio grew by 47%, and several emblematic financing agreements and transactions were closed, such as the ‘All Inclusive’ Punta Cana, the Courtyard by Marriott Santo Domingo in Piantini and the Tryp by Wyndham Punta Cana Airport. Banco BHD is working on credit operations that will bring investments of more than US$500 million to the country,” said Molina Maríñez.
