Metal construction in the Dominican Republic has had its greatest boom in the last decade with large steel-based infrastructure projects. Due to its speed of execution and design flexibility, steel is making its way and sustaining the local construction industry.
The first edition of Expo Acero, an exclusive event for the country’s steel structure construction sector, will be held from October 20 to 22 at the Centro de Convenciones y Cultura Dominicana UTESA. Expo Acero is part of the celebration of the Steel Days of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC).
Expo Acero 2023 is a platform aimed at the steel structure construction sector, an opportunity to interact for an entire weekend with industry professionals, suppliers, potential clients, among others. The fair is organized by OptimoSTD Steel Detailing and the Instituto Dominicano de la Construcción en Estructuras Metálicas (IDCEM), in coordination with the AISC.

During the event, which is free of charge, all the suppliers involved in the processes for the construction of a steel structure will be exhibited, as well as a valuable educational component through talks, panels and conferences, success stories, aimed at students and professionals.
Expo Acero Santiago 2023 will have its formal opening on Friday 20 at 6:00 p.m., and on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 the exhibition will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering a schedule of educational activities in charge of professionals in the area. The Expo is aimed at students, engineering professionals, architects and interested members of the general public.

For more than a decade, the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has organized an annual celebration of the structural steel industry known as Steel Day, a space where AISC and its members come together to organize interesting and engaging events, from manufacturer visits, projects, training through workshops and seminars.
