First Digital Health Study of the Dominican Republic

Within the framework of the second Latin American Digital Health Congress, to be held on September 6 and 7, organized by Arium Salud Digital and AF Comunicación Estratégica, the results of the study “The State of Digital Health in the Dominican Republic”, which includes a diagnosis and analysis of the current situation of the digital transformation of the health sector, will be announced.

Fedor Vidal, CEO of Arium Salud Digital, the company sponsoring the study, informed that the research is in charge of the Observatorio de la Seguridad Social (OSES), attached to the Vice-Rectory of Research and Innovation (VRII), of the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), in which Fundación Plenitud acts as technical advisor.

The Observatory is an entity that has the support of public and private sector institutions, such as Mapfre Salud ARS, Primera ARS de Humano, ARS Universal, ARS SENASA, AFP Popular, AFP Siembra, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.

“This first publication will analyze the needs of the public and private sector and show the status of care processes in service provider organizations, the insurance and pharmaceutical sector and their needs and priorities for digitization and digital transformation,” detailed the study’s lead researcher, Magdalena Rathe, president and founder of the Plenitud Foundation and Technical Advisor to OSES.

Amelia Reyes Mora, president of AF Comunicación, expressed her enthusiasm that this research will be presented during the congress, which will be held at the Real InterContinental Santo Domingo hotel. She added that it will be a scenario that will bring together the main players in the region’s healthcare ecosystem and invited people to visit congresosaluddigital.com to learn more about the activity.

The study, which will cover Santo Domingo, Santiago, Puerto Plata, La Romana and Punta Cana, will also include the perspective of patients in relation to the digitalization of healthcare services and the impact on their quality of life, as well as the main challenges in advancing the digital transformation process.

It will also address the perceptions of the main players in the public and private sectors, including executives from hospitals, clinics, diagnostic centers, unions, representatives of health risk managers, pharmacies, as well as those in charge of the technology departments of these entities, citizens and patients. At the same time, it will become a reference of consultation for the sector.

Arium Salud Digital, a company which belongs to the INTEGRA health ecosystem and sponsor of the study, is dedicated to providing tools and services designed to obtain greater data security, digitizing and strengthening processes, helping organizations to modify fragmented activities to transform them into integrated ecosystems.
