Last Thursday, November 16, an unprecedented milestone for aviation took place. A Norse Boeing 787 Dreamliner landed for the first time in Antarctica.
As reported by Aviacionline, the flight departed from Oslo (Norway) and made a stopover in Cape Town (South Africa) 12 hours later. After 40 hours, it departed for Troll Airfield, landing in Antarctica at 02:01 (local time).
The images are spectacular. The aircraft touches the ground raising a large amount of snow, even disappearing in the mist.
The operators watch the maneuver with astonishment, and cannot help but immortalize the maneuver.
