President Luis Abinader inaugurated the new Police Training Center in San Juan, which will serve for the training and education of some 3,000 new members of the institution, as part of the work program established to carry out the Police Reform.
The novelty of the center is that it is located in the first hotel of Grupo Piñero in the Dominican Republic, the Bahia Principe Grand San Juan, which has been remodeled by the group to make way for the Gaspar Hernandez Police Training School.
In this regard, the CEO of Grupo Piñero, Encarna Piñero, expressed that she is proud to be part of the opening of the Gaspar Hernandez Police Training Academy Campus, which will serve for the training of agents who will take care of security in the streets.
He highlighted the Government’s interest in converting the Gran Bahia Principe Rio San Juan space for the training of future National Police officers.
He explained that the hotel, inaugurated on July 23, 1995, represented an important milestone for Grupo Piñero, as it was its first hotel investment outside Spain.
“This was my father’s first hotel at the international level, Bahia Principe Grand San Juan, so in some way it has an emotional content that we are making available with facilities that in some way are going to contribute to this police reform project,” he said.
Piñero recognized the importance of security in tourism and pointed out that this aspect is one of the most critical factors for tourists visiting the country and other parts of the world.
He also clarified that his relationship with the Dominican State is based on a rental contract and that the National Police will assume responsibility for the maintenance and operation of the establishment, according to Nuevo Diario.
