New hotel in Montecristi “complements” Wyndham’s presence in DR

The U.S. chain Wyndham Hotels & Resorts opened its first Wyndham Garden Montecristi with 60 rooms on four levels, a swimming pool, restaurant, lobby bar, co-working spaces and a gym.

The project is part of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts’ 18 select and limited-service hotels to be developed by Grupo De Valle and its partners before the end of 2027, and as a result of its sister project, Super 8 by Wyndham Manzanillo, which opened in December 2022. Both hotels are located in the same region of Montecristi.

The opening of the hotel was attended by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who highlighted the importance of the tourism sector in Montecristi, and the need for continued development and jobs in the area.

Dough Smith, Development VP, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said that “these new openings are an indicator of the long-term potential we see in the Dominican Republic and reinforces Wyndham’s continued commitment to bringing our globally recognized brands to key markets around the world. By introducing the Wyndham Garden brand in the Dominican Republic we are keeping our promise to make staying at a hotel possible for everyone.”

He said the new hotel complements Wyndham’s presence in the country, with more than 14 Ramada by Wyndham, Super 8 by Wyndham, Trademark Collection and Registry Collection hotels, offering travelers even more options to enjoy the destination.

Meanwhile, Edward De Valle, CEO of Grupo De Valle, a leading hotel and real estate development company in the DR, said, “We believe that domestic travelers will continue to look for unique experiences and destinations within the Dominican Republic. Our extensive presence in the country will allow us to welcome new generations of guests to enjoy all that Wyndham has to offer.”
