Playa Hotels: “Success of Hyatt and Sanctuary encourages us to grow more in the DR”

Roberto Garrido, vice president of operations of Playa Hotels and Resorts in the Dominican Republic, informed that the company maintains its plan to continue growing in the country. “The success that Hyatt has had, with the Ziva and Zilara brand establishments and the Sanctuary in Cap Cana has given us the strength to continue growing.”

He told arecoa.com that the company is currently evaluating and assessing several proposals in addition to the next property they will manage: the Wyndham Alltra hotel in Samaná, which will open on November 1, 2023.

“In parallel we have two Jewel Resorts properties: the Jewel Punta Cana and the Jewel Palm Beach, which are in the review process to look for brands that support us in our business proposal. Playa continues with the intention of having brands behind us; as we currently manage Hyatt, Hilton, Wyndham… and we are not stopping there”, he commented.

He informed that in Mexico they are opening relations with the Intercontinental brand and “we hope one day to have projects with them in the DR”.

He emphasized that the goal is to continue growing and for this they have projects in the pipeline that for the moment they cannot reveal. “But yes, we are very optimistic and the truth is that our group is delighted with the results, and today the Dominican Republic is at the level of our properties in Mexico and Jamaica, and particularly in Cap Cana we are above them.”

“Cap Cana has been a win-win and we believe that having other opportunities in the country would be great,” the executive emphasized.
