American Billy Horschel won his eighth victory on the PGA Tour, after triumphing in the seventh edition of the Corales Puntacana Championship, which ended last Sunday, April 21. With his victory, Horschel obtains 300 points for the FedEx Cup and a cash prize of US$720,000.00 of the US$4.0 million dollars of the total purse of the event.
The professional golfer received his trophy at an awards ceremony led by Frank Elias Rainieri, president and CEO; Frank Rainieri, founder and chairman of the Board; Francesca Rainieri, Chief Financial Officer (CFO); Manuel Sajour, executive director of Grupo Puntacana, respectively; Stephen Cox, PGA Tour referee-in-chief; and Hiram Silfa, director of Golf Courses at Puntacana Resort, in a historic tournament that concluded on the 18th hole of the Corales Golf Course.
“This has been a great experience. Thanks to the organization and to all the public that came. Dominicans are very warm and I feel at home. I thank the fans, all the staff who worked on the tournament and the entire Rainieri family. This will be a week I will never forget,” said Horschel during the awards ceremony.
Delivery of memorabilia
Frank Rainieri and Frank Elias Rainieri, presented the official tournament memorabilia, consisting of the traditional white chacabana of the champion and the Puntacana Resort hat. Frank Elias Rainieri formally presented the trophy.
