Mived starts reconstruction of softball stadium in Los Mameyes

The Minister of Housing and Buildings (Mived), Carlos Bonilla Sánchez, led the start of the reconstruction of the Clodomiro García Colón softball stadium in the Los Mameyes sector of this locality. The work, which involves an investment of more than DR 10 million, will benefit hundreds of children, adolescents, young people and adults who practice baseball and softball in this sector.

The renovation of this stadium consists of the refurbishment of two bleachers, the roofing of the bleachers and the installation of lighting, as well as the construction of dressing rooms and bathrooms.

During the ceremony, Minister Bonilla said: “This work is very important for us, because we are meeting the needs of the neighbors, children and young athletes who need more state-of-the-art sports facilities. This stadium, which will be completely renovated, will have 9,350 m2 of construction and a capacity of 150 seats.”

It will also include the refurbishment of the stadium’s clubhouse, the renovation of the dugouts, the refurbishment of the perimeter fence and the general painting of the entire structure.

Meanwhile, Amado Díaz, deputy for Santo Domingo East, highlighted the importance of this work for the Mameyes. “You cannot imagine the importance of this. There is not a child of any of us who are here who has not practiced in this pley. Here, children, youth, amateurs, and in the end, softball players practice.

Meanwhile, Junior Caba, president of the Softball Club, pointed out: “This pley is what gives life to Los Mameyes, this is the entertainment for young people and those who are not so young. We are confident that the Ministry will deliver good facilities”.

In support of sports, the Ministry of Housing and Buildings has carried out several works, including the construction of the Bebecito del Villar Stadium in Bonao, Monseñor Nouel province.

At the ceremony, Minister Bonilla was accompanied by Altagracia Drullard, governor of Santo Domingo province; Dio Astacio, executive director of the Presidential Management Council, and the deputies of Santo Domingo East Amado Díaz, Alexis Jiménez and Adalgisa Abreu.

Also present were Abelardo Rutinel, deputy general director of the Airport Department; Junior Caba, president of the Clodomiro García Colón Softball Club; Manuel Lanfranco, member of the board of directors, and the priest Ronal Santiago Ramírez, of the Stella Maris parish, who blessed the start of the reconstruction.
