Collado and Santiago businessmen plan tourism investments

“We are committed to the tourism development of Santiago, that is why we took Santiago to the Anato Fair in Colombia and we want to make the necessary investments hand in hand with the private sector of this province in order to boost the brand of the city and that every day can increase the arrival of tourists to this area.”

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, agreed with the business sector of Santiago to invest more than 400 million pesos to continue promoting tourism in this province.

In a meeting headed by the organization Compromiso Santiago, and where were represented the different economic sectors of the city of the tourist area such as, airport, hotels, restaurants, commerce, clinics, travel agencies, among others, were presented the neuralgic points that must continue to be attended in the Heart City so that it becomes one of the main tourist destinations of the country.

Collado explained that the first investments will be made for the realization of the Santiago City Brand, which will be coordinated and executed by the private sector, and for the intervention and improvement of the area of the Monument to the Heroes of the Restoration, which is one of the main tourist attractions of the province.

The meeting, which was coordinated by the businessman Manuel Estrella, was also attended by Ricardo Founder of Compromiso Santiago; Carlos Iglesias, from the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santiago; Sandy Filpo, from the Association of Traders and Industrialists; Ramón Paulino, from the Santiago Tourism Cluster, Fernando Capellán, Augusto Reyes, Edmundo Aja, among other businessmen.

During the meeting, the necessary guidelines were also outlined to carry out a tourism strategy for Santiago de los Caballeros based on 4 fundamental pillars to be defined by the private sector.

Manuel Estrella, as host of the meeting, thanked Minister Collado’s willingness to be able to work hand in hand with the private sector.

“It is an opportunity for our city, since we have a minister who is determined to support our tourism and development initiatives, so we must be the private sector to take advantage of the opportunity to promote our city”, he told the attendees.

While Ricardo Founder stated that as Compromiso Santiago the plans that were agreed upon will be put into execution in order to be able to make monthly follow-ups to the plan to relaunch tourism in Santiago.
