Collado: “Tourism sector needs some 30,000 hotel rooms”

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, highlighted that for the next two years the country will have 16,000 new hotel rooms, and pointed out that currently some 30,000 are required.

“We have some 16,000 rooms under construction, one of the main challenges that the country has to continue growing is hotel rooms, the country needs more hotel rooms,” he said.

At the same time, Collado affirmed that the tourism sector needs some 30,000 rooms.

According to Listin Diario, the head of Mitur emphasized that when he arrived at the ministry, he thought of two things: to recover the arrival of tourists and to strengthen, little by little, the tourist infrastructures of the country.

The official pointed out that while there was talk of sun and beach tourism, all the beaches of the DR were abandoned and abandoned, so they started a program to recover them.
