Puerto Plata seeks to captivate South American markets after successful participation in ANATO 2024

Puerto Plata achieved its most outstanding presence as a tourist destination in the history of its participation in the ANATO 2024 Tourism Showcase, a scenario of international projection, where the delegation from the northern Dominican coast achieved important objectives during the event that took place from February 28 to March 1 in Bogota, Colombia.

ANATO represented an ideal platform to showcase Dominican products, especially the benefits of Puerto Plata, a destination that was the special guest of the Ministry of Puerto Plata Mercados SudamericanosTourism of the Dominican Republic, and which was emphasized, reaching important agreements for the participating companies and entities, considering that Colombia is the third country of origin of tourists to the Dominican Republic, and now Puerto Plata will receive them with direct flights.

Among the most relevant conclusions that will contribute to the growth of tourism in Puerto Plata, the Minister of Tourism announced that, as a result of the conversations between Asonahores, Arajet, Aerodom, the Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster (CTDPP), the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Tourism Enterprises of the North (ASHONORTE), the Playa Dorada Hotel Association and the Ministry of Tourism, the Arajet airline will start operating a direct flight connecting the city of Puerto Plata with the Colombian capital, from July 1st until December. Also, Minister Collado announced the interest of the Colombian airline Wingo to operate this route Bogota – Puerto Plata.

On behalf of the Puerto Plata delegation, Birgitt Heinsen, president of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster, thanked the Ministry of Tourism, Arajet and all the entities involved in this promotional action for Puerto Plata, motivated by the interest in captivating South American markets, especially Colombia.

“We are in a very good dynamic of work with the Ministry of Tourism that has put all its efforts so that we can connect with Colombia and thus take advantage of all the opportunities that can be generated to capture markets in several South American countries, which with the inclusion of this frequency could be linked from there,” he said.

He also said that they have already begun to establish contacts to develop a promotional strategy along with a sequence of actions that allow the success of the airlines that are betting on Puerto Plata.

The president of the (CTDPP) was very optimistic and confident with the positive results generated in ANATO, and on behalf of the leading institutions and members of the Tourism Cluster, extended her thanks to all those who joined the delegation that supported Puerto Plata in this important fair, including the Mayors of Puerto Plata and Maimon, the Cluster destination Santiago, ADN Bachata, businessmen and media.
