Reef Jet makes its first inaugural flight Santiago – Punta Cana

The Dominican airline Reef Jet successfully carried out its inaugural flight on the Punta Cana-Santiago de los Caballeros route, marking the commercial start between two important tourist destinations in the country.

To the rhythm of merengue, the passengers of the inaugural flight were welcomed at the General Aviation Terminal (FBO) of the Cibao International Airport, by executives of the terminal, directors of the Tourism Cluster of the province of Santiago, as well as government authorities, businessmen and representatives of the media.

The flight, which marks a milestone in Dominican air connectivity, departed from the FBO terminal of the Punta Cana International Airport at 1:00 pm, landing in Santiago 50 minutes later, giving local and international travelers for the first time the opportunity to connect from Punta Cana with the heart of Cibao in a fast, comfortable and reliable way.

The flight frequency will depart on Fridays at 2:00 in the afternoon from Punta Cana and at 3:30 from Santiago; on Sundays it will depart at 3:00 in the afternoon from Punta Cana, and at 4:30 from Santiago.

Engineer Teofilo Gomez, General Administrator of the Cibao International Airport, in welcoming the Dominican airline, Reef Jet, thanked them for the start of their operations and congratulated them for the initiative.

“We are very happy with this national connection that meets a demand of travelers from the East and Cibao and foreigners who can make a route in less time than air transport,” he said.

César González, CEO of the airline company, highlighted the importance of the new route “This air connection aligns the airline with the Government’s tourism promotion plans, by complementing the tourism leadership of Punta Cana with the rich cultural, gastronomic and tourist offer of the Cibao”.

Travelers can now choose to spend a weekend in Santiago or Punta Cana, depending on their point of departure.

In Santiago, Reef Jet has established alliances with City Tour Santiago to offer organized excursions, hotel deals and local businesses, in addition to promoting visits to nearby provinces such as Espaillat, Puerto Plata, La Vega, San Francisco de Macorís, as well as other enclaves in Cibao.
