Puerto Plata and Croatia unite in a bachata festival

The mayor of Puerto Plata, Diómedes Roque García (Roquelito), and the organizers of the ADN Bachata World Festival in the Dominican Republic, Carlos Rodolí and Víctor Minaya, will be special guests at the Summer Sensual Day festival in Opatija, Croatia. This festival, which is celebrating its twelfth edition, is one of the most important in the region and has stood out in recent years for its focus on bachata, attracting thousands of people from all over Europe and Asia.

The invitation is due to the guests’ successful experience in transforming Puerto Plata and the northern Dominican Republic into a festival destination. The event in Croatia seeks to learn from their experience, as it started as a four-day festival and now extends over three weeks, which requires special measures to receive a large number of tourists from Asia and Europe.

The organizers of the Summer Sensual Day festival count and applaud the Dominican Republic’s efforts to promote Puerto Plata and the northern zone as festival destinations, especially at a time when bachata is one of the most popular genres at dance events around the world.

Festival director Vladimir Semencic expressed his honor to have a delegation from the Dominican Republic at the event, considering that the country is the birthplace of bachata, a rhythm that has conquered the world.

This invitation is considered a gesture of support and collaboration so that the Dominican Republic can explore bachata-related tourism, taking advantage of the fact that this musical genre is increasingly popular internationally and nothing is more attractive than dancing to it in its place of origin.

The Summer Sensual Day festival will take place starting June 5.
