DR assures to fight for the seventh position in the U15 World Championship

Defeats the Netherlands in position round game.

The Dominican Republic defeated the Netherlands, 5-4, in a game of the positioning round of the U15 Baseball World Championship being held in Colombia.

The Dominican team left the Netherlands in the field in the seventh inning and will have the opportunity to face South Africa this Saturday to secure the seventh position in the tournament.

The winning pitcher was Victor Padilla who in relief only needed to make one out to be the pitcher of record, the loss fell on Davey-Jay Rijke who entered in relief and in one third of an inning allowed one clean run, with one base and no hits allowed.

How they scored

In the top of the first inning, the Netherlands (Holland) started the game with a base on balls to Jaydion Louisa, then a single to left field by Davey-Jay Rijke, two outs and a wild pitch scored Louisa to make the score 1-0 in favor of the Netherlands.

Then in the bottom of the first inning the Dominican Republic started with a base on balls for Snafe Alvarez, then a single by Frandely Rodriguez that took Alvarez to the second pad and Alfredo Sena got a hit to the right side that pushed Alvarez and took Frandely to third, sneaking Sena to the middle with the throw to the plate. Then Miguel Grullon popped out to first base and Alfredo Sena is put out at second on a 3-6 groundout, a double kill that dented Dominican aspirations of producing a rally, with the game tied Euniel De La Cruz gets a base on balls and Frandely Rodriguez scores on a wild pitch by Netherlands pitcher Francois ZaĆ­r.

In the top of the second inning, the Netherlands did not let up and produced a run to put the game at 2-2, a ball to Kayden Leer started the offensive rally of the Netherlands, and then scored with an error by the Dominican second baseman on a throw.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Dominicans produced two runs, a triple by Frandely Rodriguez brought Snafe Alvarez to the plate and then a double play from the leadoff spot scored Frandely to put the game 4-2 in favor of the Dominicans.

The Dutch shortened the disadvantage by stepping on the plate on one occasion when a deflected pitch by Dominican pitcher Rafeli Moronta scored Jeadyon Chririno, being the third run scored by wild pitch in the game.

Netherlands tied the game 4-4 in the top of the fifth inning product of a base-stealing double play and from third came to the plate Raishelnon Ogenia.
